Last night’s Kenwick Table was marvelous! In addition to seeing my friend and former BGWS classmate, Libby Falk Jones, who was one of the featured poets reading from her poetry books, I shared my own piece. I provided evidence to support my suspicion that the investigation into the crash of the Air America plane that killed my father nearly 60 years ago is most likely locked away in the CIA Director’s safe. I concluded with this short poem:
Locked away in a secret vault
Lies Truth, waiting for its assault
On murder, conspiracies, cover-ups, and coups,
That threaten the existence of democratic rule.
How many decades will trapped souls lie,
Before they are released and allowed to die,
Granting peace to their loved ones who wait
For Truth to emerge and their questions to abate?

God knows the truth. Habakkuk says “to wait”…he also asks “How long?” Our family has waited nearly 60 years, and we may never know this side of Heaven.

Jo, what a coincidence! I quote Habakkuk in my book. I think you too will find comfort in how my book ends.
